Julie and Marshaye will be at the equipment sheds this Wednesday 11/13 from 5-6:30pm for another equipment return. If you have not returned your equipment and your season is over, please try and make this last equipment return. With basketball and wrestling seasons starting across Columbia, the board has limited availability to meet players outside of these equipment return days. We will have one last equipment return in December when our competitive teams are done with their season and then checks will be deposited for all remaining equipment that has not been returned.

Hello everyone! 

First off, for those still practicing this week, Cosmo fields are closed today (10/29) due to poor field conditions so all practices at Cosmo are cancelled. 

We are so excited for our championship games this coming weekend! We have secured both of Hickman's fields this Sunday and look forward to hosting everyone there for the championships. Please see the game schedule below. 

Hickman Main field:
10:00 - 5th Grade Kewpies
12:00 - 4th Grade Kewpies
2:00 - 3rd Grade Kewpies

Hickman Practice Field:
10:00 - Kindergarten Kewpies vs Kindergarten Bruins
11:30 - 2nd Grade Lions vs  2nd Grade Trailblazers
1:00 - 1st Grade Kewpies vs 1st Grade Bruins

Our next board meeting will be Monday, November 3rd at 6pm at the Fieldhouse meeting room. Board meetings are open to anyone in the league. As a reminder, board elections are in December and if you have any interest in volunteering with the league or joining the board, we strongly encourage you to attend and check it out!

We will have tackle equipment return tonight (10/29) at the sheds from 5-7pm for those who are already done for the season. You will need to return the helmet, pads, and practice pants (if you took some). Next week, equipment returns will be on Wednesday 11/5 from 6-7:30pm and Thursday 11/6 from 5-6:30pm. Please make the effort to return the equipment during one of these 3 days and please wash the practice pants! We will have additional equipment return dates in December for our competitive teams who are still playing. If there are any flag coaches done with the season or coaches who have flags or equipment from preivous seasons, you can also return your coaching bags during these times.

Registration for 2026 season will open in January so please keep an eye out for that. As a reminder, we offer flag only in the spring for K-8th grade. In the fall, we offer flag for K-2nd grade and tackle for 3-6th grade. If you are interested in coaching in 2026, please reach out to cyfl.footballsecretary@gmail.com so I can start keeping tracking of interest.

Hey everyone!

Equipment return tonight (10/28) is cancelled due to illness and poor weather conditions. Julie and Amanda will be at the sheds tomorrow (10/29) from 5:00pm to 7:30pm for equipment return and will also have several days next week, once they coordinate schedules.

We are working on trying to secure both fields at Hickman for our flag and tackle championship games this Sunday so once we have confirmation, we will send out an update along with the schedule.

Hello everyone!

Thank you to everyone who braved the cold and rain to come support Columbia Youth Football at our playoff games yesterday! We hope to have the championship schedule finalized in the next 24 hours and will send it to coaches as soon as it is done. 

Julie and Amanda will be doing the first round of tackle equipment returns this Tuesday and Wednesday from 6-7:30pm a the sheds. Reminder that you will need to return your helmet, pads, and practice pants (if you took some). Also please make sure and wash the practice pants before you return them! If there are any flag coaches done for the season that would like to return their flag bag or any coaches that have flags from previous seasons that you have not returned, you can return them during those times as well.

Hello CYFL!

As we finish our season this week and head into playoffs, we have a few updates to share with everyone.

1) Joe is actively working on the playoff schedule as we speak and will share it as soon as it is done and verified with Sedalia and Jefferson City. 

2) Julie and Amanda will be available for the first round of equipment returns on Tuesday October 28th and Wednesday October 29th for those players that are already done with their season. As a reminder, players should be returning pads, helmets, and practice pants. Please remember to wash your practice pants before equipment return!

3) We will have more equipment returns after the season is over so stay tuned for those dates! I know we have some competitive teams that are participating in December games/tournaments so we will work with them on an alternative equipment return date once their season is over. Reminder - any equipment not returned after their team's season ends will forfeit their deposit.

4) Our next board meeting will be Tuesday, November 4th at 6pm at the Columbia Fieldhouse. Board meetings are open to anyone in CYFL. I strongly encourage anyone interested in volunteering their time or considering joining the board to attend so you can see first hand what we do!

5) Board elections will be held in December and there will be open positions available for anyone interested in running for a board position. If interested, please attend the November board meeting as well as contact Amanda at cyfl.footballsecreatary@gmail.com. 

6) Speaking of board members, we have made some important leadership changes that we want to share with our community. First, we would like to recognize and thank KJ Villanueva-Kaeo, who has stepped down from his role as Vice President. KJ has dedicated countless hours to building and strengthening the CYFL for the past five years. His leadership, passion, and commitment have been instrumental in shaping the league into what it is today. He will be greatly missed in his role as Vice President. However, we are excited to share that KJ will remain highly involved as a community liaison and JC district representative, continuing to support the mission and growth of CYFL in meaningful ways. 

As we move forward, we are pleased to announce that Marquis Ewing has been promoted to Interim Vice President. Marquis has already shown tremendous leadership, and we are confident he will continue to serve our league with integrity and vision.

Additionally, Qwan Devereaux has been promoted to Co-President. Qwan will work closely with our current President, Joe Griffin, to help drive growth and strengthen communication with our community. This team effort will ensure that the voices of our families, coaches, and players remain at the heart of everything we do.

We thank you for your continued support and look forward to the exciting season ahead. Together, we will keep building the CYFL into a league that proudly serves our youth and community.

We are excited to announce that Abby Marie Photography will be available at Cosmo Park during games on Sunday, October 12th for anyone that would like to have pictures of their players. She can do individual and team pictures, if preferred.

Pictures ARE optional so you do not have to participate if you are not interested in purchasing pictures.
